BBC radio 2 is the most listened to radio station in England. BBCs radio reach is now 33.81 million with BBC radio 2 having a weekly reach of 13.46 million listeners. 2.39 more than radio 1 which pulls in 11.07 a week. Terry Wogans breakfast show Waking Up to Wogan pulls in 7.78 million.[1]
According to Rajar, the average amount a person listens to the radio for 19 hours and 8 minutes a week.

Galaxy covers four regions, Yorkshire, Birmingham, Scotland and Manchester. As of may 2009, they have an audience share of %4.6.
A restricted Service licence is a licence that allows you to run a radio show. They can last up to 28 days There are two types of this licence The first being a short term one which allows you to run a radio show for 28 days, the coverage are is very small and you can only have up to two licenses a year. They are handed out for special purposes only; they may include trial services (Giving you a chance to try out having a radio show) and Training Purposes (Students in need of experience). To obtain this license you must go visit ofcoms website and fill in a form with the fee of £400. The long-term licence is given to those who wish to have a long-term radio station. These may last up to five years. [1][2]
PRS stands for Performing Rights Society and represents artists. Once their song is played on the radio, or any public area the artists receive a fee. [3]
PPL is a London based company, which represents the British music industry. Its revenues come from Television broadcasting, Public Performance, Radio Broadcasting, Online & Mobile Radio, Music Supplies. They invest with these to earn a profit.This company is out to maximise the rights the music industry earns and help distribute them in the most effective way. [4]
MCPS stands for Mechanical- Copyright Protection Society. It represents the physical side of music. The performer gets paid if the music is produced as a CD or is made for broadcast or online. For every CD or broadcast, the performer gets paid. [5] [6] Due to Illegal file sharing, the cost of what the artists earn, and what the label earns has gone down, and has continued to decrease yearly. [7]

The amount that artists earn from PRS is anything from up to 1-5p.

Task 5: Waking up to wogan.
Wake up to wogan is a chat show that ran from 1993 to 2009. This chat is the most listened to radio show with listening figures of 8.1 million, Beating Chris moyles who has 7.72 million. It was also reported that he managed to add an increase of 370,00 listeners in three months.[1]
His show relied heavily on humour, and e-mailed material sent in and phone-ins. Witch got the listeners involved. There were people who regularly contributed to the show regularly under other aliases.
Here are a few of people’s thoughts about Waking up to Wogan, and why they like it.
Being a producer of a radio show, can prove to be difficult and challenging. They have to oversea the making of a radio show. There primary responsibilities are organizing, creating and the overall direction of live radio programming, mainly talk shows and sporting events. They can however produce recorded content varying from radio advert to jingles.
presenting a radio show is and stressful challenge, it comes down to you to carry the show. As a presenter you open and close the show, interview the guests and songs. You must have personality and charisma to identify with the audience.
